Sitar Restaurant wins local nomination for Tiffin Cup, Kings Langley's Cinnamon Lounge is runner-up

Mike Penning presents certificates to winning and runner-up restaurants of local round of MPs' 'Best South Asian Restaurant' competition.
Hemel MP Mike Penning visited Sitar Restaurant in St John’s Road, Boxmoor to present certificates to Atar Miah and his colleagues who received the most nominations in the Hemel Hempstead constituency for the annual Tiffin Cup competition. The MP organised the local round in which over a dozen restaurants received nominations.
Atar Miah whose family originates from Bangladesh and his head chef, Tohur Miah now go through to the national competition from which ten will be short-listed for the final.
The Tiffin Cup is an annual event sponsored by Cobra Beer and organised by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament known as the Tiffin Club. Each MP can nominate one South Asian restaurant from their constituency. The ten finalists will be invited to a special cook-in at Bellamy's Restaurant where the overall winner will be chosen.
The winning restaurant will receive a year's supply of Cobra beer and the 2008 Tiffin Cup.
At the same time money is being raised to support an orphanage in India.
Mike Penning said:
“This is a great way of promoting South Asian food in Dacorum. I’ve been very pleased with the response and I’m looking forward to the next round of the competition where I very much hope Sitar Restaurant will be short-listed for the final.”
Mike then went on to the Cinnamon Lounge in Kings Langley where he presented the Managing Director, Kaz Zaman and chefs and staff with a certificate for taking runner-up position.
