MP backs local fundraisers

Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning is backing a local company’s fundraising effort in aid of London’s Air Ambulance.
A 14-member team from Draeger Medical UK Limited, who have their headquarters in Mark Road, Hemel Hempstead, will be running the 85 mile Ridgeway from Avebury, Wilts to Ivinghoe Beacon as a relay. The event will take place on Saturday 18th June 2011.
Inspiration for the event comes from Imogen Hicks who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in May 2008. She was treated by the London Air Ambulance service and The Royal London Hospital. She believes that without air transport she would have lost her life.
The team consists of: Imogen Hicks, Howard Clark, Rob Clark, Anne Pattinson, Luke Bourdillon, Neil Allen, Lesley Youren, Jennifer Earnshaw, Chris Babb, Emma Hancox, Chris Mackriell, Nathaniel Rhodes-Williams, Pauline Read and Steve Brunskill.
London’s Air Ambulance is the capital’s only helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) providing pre-hospital care to victims of serious injury to those who live and work within the M25.
Mike Penning said:
“I am delighted to support the Draeger Medical Ridgeway Run 2011. The London Air Ambulance (HEMS) is an excellent charity and I have met the medics at HEMS many times and spent a shift with them at The Royal London.
“Imogen and her team are an inspiration and I wish them a successful run and that they reach their £2,500 target.”
Team member Howard Clark said:
