MP backs Dacorum ‘People’s Millions’ hopefuls
3rd November 2009
Mike Penning is firmly backing The Paradise Sounds Project in their People’s Millions bid.
Local MP, Mike Penning, is firmly supporting Community Action Dacorum’s bid for money from The People’s Millions for their Paradise Sounds Project. The People’s Millions is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund and ITV in which the public vote for awards for up to £50,000 for projects in their ITV region.
The project aims to convert a van into a mobile music training facility to take to schools, youth clubs and other community groups all around Dacorum and especially to children and young people who face barriers to learning within the area.
The project will be featured on ITV London regional news on Tuesday 24th November.
Mike said:
“This is a great project and I urge all Dacorum resident to get behind the project and to vote and give them full support. They have done very well to get to the final eight – now it is up to us to show our support.”
Bev Pettiford of Community Action Dacorum said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to receive an insight into the music industry which will hopefully encourage further learning. However, we will need local people to vote on 24th for this project to happen.”
To help Paradise Sounds Project win funding you must vote by phone between 9am and midnight on 24th November 2009. The voting phone number will be in the Daily Mirror on the day. A short video about this project and the competing projects will also be shown on the ITV London regional news between 6.00pm and 6.30pm.
