MP backs “Help for Heroes” fundraiser
5th April 2010
Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning, is lending his support to a fundraising event to be held at the Waterside Bar in Waterhouse Street on Tuesday April 13th starting at 8pm.
Hemel Stags Rugby League Club will be launching their new shirt and club members decided to use the event to raise money for ‘Help for Heroes’, particularly as one of their team members has recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan.
Waterside Bar owner, Richard Nouari said:
“It seemed like a great idea to use the launch of the new shirt as a fundraising event. It’s a cause we all very much support and I hope we get a lot of people to come along.”
There will be auctions and other fundraising events throughout the evening.
Mike Penning said:
“I am delighted that local businesses and sports clubs are getting behind the ‘Help for Heroes’ cause and I congratulate Hemel Stags and the Waterside Bar team for this initiative. I’m a strong supporter of our forces and have met many of our injured soldiers – both in Afghanistan and on their return to the UK. I have been humbled by their bravery in facing the difficulties ahead and wholeheartedly commend the work of ‘Help for Heroes’.”
