Mike Penning welcomes Luton Airport climbdown

Mike Penning welcomes the announcement by London Luton Operations Limited that they have withdrawn their draft 'Master Plan'.
Mike Penning, MP for the Hemel Hempstead constituency which includes the villages of Markyate, Flamstead and the Gaddesdens, welcomed the announcement by London Luton Operations Limited that they have withdrawn their draft ‘Master Plan’.
In effect this means that proposals to build a second runway have been abandoned and instead they will concentrate on making the most of the existing site.
Mike Penning said:
“It is excellent news that residents’ lives will not be blighted by a second runway and I want to thank everyone who has helped me campaign against it.
“Our fight is not over though, I will continue to campaign against low flying and noisy aircraft that make local residents’ lives a misery.
“We now await the airport operator’s next move and I call on them to ensure that any new proposals take into account the effects they will have on the lives of people living near the airport.”
