7th November 2011
Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning has welcomed the inclusion of Dacorum in the Olympic Torch route. The torch will visit Hemel Hempstead on July 8th on its way from St Albans to Luton.
Mike said:
“Although the exact route has not yet been announced, I am delighted that Hemel Hempstead has been included as one of the 1,018 cities, towns and villages that the Olympic torch will pass through. It will really kick-start the Olympics for us in Dacorum and I am sure local people will welcome the torch and the inspirational people chosen to be torchbearers as it passes through.”
The torch will be carried over 8,000 miles, by more than 8,000 torchbearers on its way from Land’s End to the Olympic Stadium.
