MP presents veterans badge
8th July 2011
Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning visited local veteran, Kevin Francis Clark who served his National Service in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps to present him with a veterans badge this week.
Mr Clark served at Deepcut and Blackdown before concluding his service at the war office. He told Mike about vivid recollections of serving with the Cooper brothers, Henry and George and he used to watch them box in many fights in Regimental Boxing Competitions.
Jointly with the Royal British Legion (Hemel Hempstead Branch) and the Royal British Legion Club, Mike Penning has organised the next veterans presentation evening for September. If you are eligible and would like to receive your badge at that event, please apply now. An application form can be downloaded from Mike’s website www.penning4hemel.com or call his office on 01442 450444.
To be eligible for a veterans badge you must have served in the armed forces – in wartime or peacetime. Special badges are also available to those who served in the merchant navy in a vessel at a time when it was facilitating military operations by HM Forces, Bevin Boys and the Women’s Land Army and Timber Corps.
