MP welcomes local election and referendum results
9th May 2011
Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, has welcomed the results of the local election in Dacorum which saw the return of a Conservative council with Conservatives taking 43 seats, Liberal Democrats 6 and Labour 2.
Mike said:
“This is a great result and has maintained the position pretty much exactly as it was 4 years ago. We have had some exciting local contests and I congratulate all the Councillors on their election particularly those elected for the first time.
“I also welcome the resounding ‘No 2 AV’ vote. This is an unequivocal rejection of the Alternative Vote system. It is clear that the more people found out about AV the less they liked it!”
