Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead visited Hobletts Manor Junior School in Parliament Week to talk about his work as our local MP.
Parliament Week (31st October to 6th November 2011) is a new annual series of events and activities which aim to raise awareness of Parliament and encourage people to engage with the UK’s democratic system and its institutions.
The pupils of Hobletts Manor asked a range of questions about Mike’s work in Parliament and in the constituency and he also told them about his role in Government as a Transport Minister.
Mike said:
“I was delighted to take part in a question and answer session with pupils from Hobletts Manor school. There are clearly many bright and talented children at the school and I particularly enjoyed being shown some of the work they have done.”
UK Youth Parliament sat in the House of Commons chamber on Friday 4th November which was screened live by BBC Parliament. BBC Question Time was also broadcast from the historic Westminster Hall for the very first time on 3rd November.
