An Open Letter to the People of Hemel Hempstead

I would like to thank the many people who have been in touch since my promotion to Minister of State for Northern Ireland. It is indeed a great honour and I am overwhelmed by the support from my constituents and I thank you for your good wishes.
A couple of people have asked if it means I will have less time to devote to my constituency and I can honestly say that I don’t believe it will. My schedule will most usually include short trips or visits to Northern Ireland which is no more onerous than my schedule at the Department for Transport.
I am acutely aware that first and foremost I represent the people of the Hemel Hempstead constituency and I will continue to honour the pledge I made when first elected. It is in all our interests that the Government creates a strong and growing economy in the UK and a prosperous and politically stable Northern Ireland is very much a part of that.
