MP comments on boundary proposals
13th September 2011
Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, has commented on proposals published by the Boundary Commission to enlarge the Hemel Hempstead constituency.
Mike said:
“I welcome moves to reduce the number of MPs and consequently increase the size of constituencies. I am pleased that the initial proposals leave the constituency largely unchanged and welcome the proposals to add the villages of Kensworth, Caddington and Slip End in Bedfordshire. I am naturally disappointed at their propsal to remove Little Gaddesden and Potten End.
“Whatever the outcome I will continue to represent and give my full support to all residents of the existing constituency until the next general election.”
The Commission has been tasked to reduce the number of Parliamentary seats in the United Kingdom from 650 to 600. A 12 week consultation period on these proposals commences today.
The Boundary Commission is expected to publish any revisions on new constituency boundaries in Autumn 2012 with final determination of new boundaries by 30th September 2013.
