MP opens playground at Leverstock Green School
14th March 2008
Mike Penning visited Leverstock Green School today to open a new playground at the school.
Mike was joined by staff, pupils, Head Teacher Alan Phair and the Chairs of the PTA and Leverstock Green Parish Trust to perform the official opening ceremony.
The playground now has a colourful train, boat and activity panels for the Key Stage 1 children and an activity trail and outdoor stage for the Key Stage 2 children.
The playground improvements were funded by the schools’ PTA and a generous donation from Leverstock Green Parish Trust. Parent Governor Mrs Ruth Carl headed the project including Staff, PTA members and, most importantly, pupils from the School Council in planning and organising the installation.
Mike Penning said: "This is a great initiative by School Governor Mrs Carl. The new play equipment looks like lots of fun and I'm sure will give hours of pleasure to the school's children. It is great to see a school so well supported by the local community."
Head teacher Mr Alan Phair said “The playground has been much improved by the addition of this equipment and the children are really excited by it”. The school, which was badly damaged by the Buncefield Explosion, is now planning the second phase of its playground enhancement.
