MP disappointed as three local Post Offices are threatened with closure

17th June 2008

Reacting to news that three local post offices are under threat of closure, Mike Penning called on local people to respond to the consultation.

Hemel MP, Mike Penning, said he was “disappointed” to learn that three post offices in his constituency are to be included in Post Office Ltd’s consultation about branch closures in the ‘South Essex, South Herts and Bucks’ area. The post offices under threat are at Queensway in the old town, The Heights in Highfield and at Potten End.

Mike said:
“I am very disappointed at this news. People rely on their local post office and the closure of a branch is of real concern and will cause genuine hardship in many cases. I would call on anyone worried by the possible closure of one of these post offices to make their views known by responding as soon as possible to the Post Office Consultation.”
