Mike Penning MP joins Olympic torchbearers at local store
19th July 2012
Mike Penning, Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead, visited the Nisa Local store in Crabtree Lane to meet two Nisa employees and Olympic torchbearers, Gary Bilbrough and Misha Patel.
The two torchbearers had brought along their Olympic torches to the store to show customers and chat about their experiences of carrying the Olympic torch.
Gary Bilbrough, who is a Nisa Local store manager carried the torch on part of the route through Corby in Northamptonshire and student and store assistant Misha Patel carried the torch in Bishops Stortford.
Mike said:
“This is a great way to promote both the local store and the Olympics. Customers and staff were clearly enjoying talking to Gary and Misha and having a chance to have a photo with the Olympic torches.”
Torchbearer Mishal Patel said:
“It was a pleasure for me and Gary to be able to share this experience some of the customers at our Hemel Hempstead store as much as it was for them to hold a real Olympic Torch.
“The Olympics will most likely be a once in a life time event for most of us, so we really want to make the most of our experiences.”
