Mike Penning MP opens The Acorn Wellbeing Centre

20th July 2012

Mike Penning, Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead, officially opened The Acorn Wellbeing Centre in Alexandra Road, Hemel Hempstead on Saturday 14th July.

The Acorn Wellbeing Centre offers a Holistic Centre catering for mind, body and spirit and is the brainchild of centre manager and therapist Helen Lehrle.

The centre offers a range of Holistic treatments including Aromatherapy, Reiki, Indian head massage, Swedish massage, Cancer care, Pregnancy care and Hot and Cold stones therapy. The team is growing and bringing more treatments to the centre. A Chiropractor has joined the team and soon they hope to run a wig clinic. They also offer a full range of counselling services for issues including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Learning Difficulties, Mental Health Issues, Depression, Anxiety and other stress related issues. A low cost counselling service is also available.

Mike Penning said:
“I am delighted to open The Acorn Wellbeing Centre. This is a great idea to bring a number of therapists together to work in a single location. I am sure it will be a service that will be beneficial to many local residents.

“I was particularly interested to hear of the work they do with returning service personnel and very pleased to hear they provide a discount scheme for the military.”

Helen Lehrle said:
“It has been a long term dream of mine to have a centre where we can provide local people with expert care, as a therapist myself I wanted to look after like-minded therapists by providing a multi-disciplinary team of self-employed therapists under one roof.

“I have worked as a therapist treating learning disabilities for the last five years and recently completed my Diploma in counselling and my passion is the Military Services. My future son in law has been serving in Afghanistan and has come home with an injury which highlighted a great need to support those who have served for us, so to provide our service men and women with a safe environment which is confidential is a privilege for me. I am thrilled that Mike was able to open the centre. Our chosen charities are Help for Heroes and The Hospice of St Francis.”
