Mike Penning pays tribute to Acting Corporal David Barnsdale

Mike Penning has paid tribute to the courage and bravery of Acting Corporal David Barnsdale who was killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Mike Penning, Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead, has paid tribute to the courage and bravery of Dacorum resident Acting Corporal David Barnsdale.
Acting Corporal Barnsdale from 33 Engineer Regiment was serving on his second tour in Afghanistan and was leading a team searching for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) when one detonated.
Mike Penning said:
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this courageous and brave young man. Leading a team searching for IEDs must be one of the most dangerous duties – knowingly facing danger so that others can pass in safety. I have huge respect for him and the work that he did.
“Acting Corporal Barnsdale has made the ultimate sacrifice serving the people of the United Kingdom – making our country safer for the rest of us and helping improve the lives of the people of Afghanistan.
“My prayers and thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”
