Master of Ceremonies for the evening Chairman of the Hemel Hempstead Branch of the Royal British Legion, and former submariner Peter Gibbons. Branch President Major Bob Fisher (retd) was also in attendance.
Mike Penning MP said:
“I am very proud and honoured to present these badges as recognition for the service these men and women gave to their country. At a time when our servicemen and women are putting their lives on the line on our behalf in Afghanistan, it is right that now more than ever we recognise the valiant work our troops carry out on our behalf.”
The veterans badge scheme was introduced by the Ministry of Defence to recognise veterans for their service to Queen and country and to raise the profile of our armed forces.
If you served in the forces – in wartime or peacetime – you are entitled to a veterans badge. An application form can be downloaded from Mike’s website www.penning4hemel.com or call his office on 01442 450444.
