24th July 2009
Mike Penning has congratulated local nomination ‘Cinnamon Lounge’ on ‘Highly Commended’ rating in Veetee Tiffin Cup 2009.
Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley MP, Mike Penning, visited the Cinnamon Lounge in Kings Langley to present a specially monogrammed chef’s jacket in recognition of the restaurant’s ‘Highly Commended’ rating in the national round of the prestigious Veetee Tiffin Cup 2009.
The Tiffin Cup is awarded by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament called the Tiffin Club.
Each MP can nominate the best South Asian restaurant in their constituency. The best of these go forward to a national final which takes place at the House of Commons.
Keith Vaz MP, the co-chair of the Veetee Tiffin Cup said:
"We are delighted that the Cinnamon Lounge has been Highly Commended in the Veetee Tiffin Cup 2009. This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of local MP, Mike Penning but also to the constituency of Hemel Hempstead as a whole."
Mike Penning added:
"I am very proud that Cinnamon Lounge has achieved such a great placing in this prestigious competition. This award is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff at the Cinnamon Lounge. We are lucky to have a number of great restaurants in Dacorum, many of which I have frequented.
“I am especially pleased to present this jacket to Rafiqul Alam who is a highly talented young chef”.
