Two new collection points for “Phones for our Troops” campaign

Mike Penning’s campaign for old and unwanted mobile phones to raise money for “Help for Heroes” has two new collection points.

Local MP, Mike Penning’s “Phones for our Troops” campaign received a boost this week when it was announced that there are two new collection points.

Any old and unwanted mobile phones can be dropped off at any one of ten collection points across the borough and they will be sold and all money raised will go directly to “Help for Heroes”.

Mike said:
“I am delighted that Hobletts Manor Infants’ School and the Café at Bennetts End Community Centre have volunteered to act as drop off points. Many people have an old, unused mobile phone lying around somewhere. We can sell these old phones to raise money for our injured servicemen and women.

“All people have to do is to put the phone in a box or padded envelope, write on their name and address and drop it off at one of our collection points. Even if it doesn’t work, we still want it – although it would be helpful if they could fix a note to it saying it doesn’t work.”

Mike was prompted to launch the campaign following his visit to troops in Afghanistan in January where he met a number of seriously injured soldiers in the camp hospital at Camp Bastion.
