Mike Penning backs Dementia Awareness Week

Mike Penning is supporting the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Awareness Week (4th to 10th July). He will also visit them at their stand at the Dacorum Mela in the Market Square, Marlowes on 10th July.
Mike said:
“I commend the work of the Alzheimer’s Society in supporting residents suffering from dementia in Dacorum and Watford. This year’s theme “Remember the Person” hits right at the heart of the issue. Nearly all of us have first hand experience of the effects that Alzheimer’s has on the sufferers, their loved ones and those that care for them.”
“I urge everyone to back Dementia Awareness Week and support the Alzheimer’s Society in their excellent work”.
Kim Hurrell for Alzheimer’s Society says,
“These Alzheimer’s Society activities are not only fun days out but also a great way to raise much needed funds. We hope lots of people will join us this Dementia Awareness Week.”
“Two thirds of people with dementia live at home and can feel very isolated. We’re asking people to look beyond the dementia and remember that every man or woman living with dementia is still a person too. It’s never too late to help a family living with dementia and our Awareness Week activities are a great opportunity to talk about how you can offer your support. There are over 750,000 people in the UK with dementia, so please come and join us; it could really help improve someone’s quality of life.”

Bake sale and information stand in Tring Town Centre
Friday 9th July: Bake sale and information stand in Berkhamsted Town Centre
Saturday 10th July: Information stand and activities in Hemel Town Centre
Information stand at Oddfellows 200th anniversary fete Red Lion Pub, Apsley
Sunday 18th July: Church service in honour of Dementia Awareness Week in Hemel Hempstead
