MP backs “Kick Racism Out of Football” event
25th October 2012
Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning, joined County Councillor William Wyatt-Lowe and young people at a “Keepie Uppie” football workshop with freestyler Paul “Woody” Wood at the Marlowes Centre on Saturday (20th October).
The event was supported by Dacorum Borough Council and was part of the annual “Kick It Out” awareness week (18th-29th October).
Mike Penning said:
“I welcome any initiative that increases awareness of these issues amongst today’s youngsters. There is no place in modern football for racism – and thankfully we don’t see much of it – but we need to keep working to ensure it stays that way.
“Woody and the guys did a great job and we had a lot of fun.”
The “Kick It Out” campaign works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and work for positive change.
