MP joins local ATC on training exercise
29th June 2011
Mike Penning joined the Herts and Bucks Wing ATC Exercise at Longmoor Camp in Hampshire recently.
The exercise is considered by the ATC as their “showcase event” with over 300 cadets and 70 staff in attendance. Mike joined Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Simon Cooper RAFVR(T) to meet the cadets and staff and watch their training activities.
Mike, who was once in the ATC 1341 Thundersley Squadron himself, said:
“I know from personal experience the ATC is a great organisation which helps promote and develop young peoples’ potential, sense of adventure and confidence. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the cadets and watching them complete tasks aimed at developing their leadership skills.
“I was very impressed with the way in which these young people tackled the exercises and relished the challenges set. I congratulate the staff and organisers for their dedication and professionalism in the running of this huge exercise.”
