Mike Penning congratulates Drive Safe Dacorum team on reduction in serious road traffic accidents
22nd April 2013
Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning has congratulated all those involved in the Drive Safe Dacorum programme on their contribution to the reduction in the number of serious road traffic accidents in the area.
Statistics show a 49% reduction in the number of serious road traffic accidents in Dacorum for the year 2012/13 (that is incidents where the fire service attended).
Drive Safe Dacorum has provided all of the Borough’s senior schools with a full day of road safety training. The multi-agency programme includes contributions from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue, Hertfordshire Police, Trading Standards, trainee paramedics and Druglink.
Mike Penning said:
“I am delighted that the hard work put in by the Drive Safe Dacorum team has had such positive results and I send my thanks and congratulations to Community Safety Co-ordinator Jack Daw and all who contributed to Drive Safe Dacorum.
“I have heard great reports of their presentations and the lasting positive impact they have had on young people. As a former fireman, I know first-hand how important it is that young people fully understand the dangers on our roads.
“These figures really are good news for Dacorum.”
