Mike Penning congratulates local head on teaching award

Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning, has congratulated Astley Cooper headteacher Eddie Gaynor on being announced today as the regional winner in the Pearson Teaching Awards.
Mr Gaynor has won the award for Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School and will now go forward to the national finals. The National Finals will be televised by BBC2 in October.
Over 24,000 nominations were made this year which has broken all records for the Pearson Teaching Awards.

“I am absolutely delighted and congratulate Eddie on this tremendous achievement. This is a prestigious award and is well deserved for the great work he has done at Astley Cooper.”
Today, 17th May is national “Thank a Teacher Day”.
