Mike Penning sends thoughts and prayers to victims of the explosion at the fertiliser plant in Texas
18th April 2013
Mike Penning MP, Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead, has commented on the devastating fire and explosions at the fertiliser plant at West near Waco, Texas.
Mike said:
“The explosions and fires at the fertiliser plant at West are a terrible tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been injured or have lost loved ones.
“As a former fireman I know only too well the dangers facing the emergency services and I am thinking of them as they face this extraordinarily dangerous situation putting their own lives at risk to help others.
“In Hemel Hempstead we suffered the largest fire in the UK since World War 2 when the Buncefield oil depot exploded in 2005. I know that I and my constituents are reminded today of how lucky we were that no lives were lost that day and the injuries relatively minor.
“My heart goes out to all those caught up in this ongoing tragedy.”
