Mike Penning welcomes hospital parking announcement
3rd June 2013
Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning has welcomed the new parking and transport arrangements at Watford Hospital. In an announcement by the West Herts NHS Trust free parking will be retained for blue-badge holders and graduated car parking charges will be introduced in August. A bus service for staff running between the sites will continue to operate and a fare paying bus service will operate in mornings and evenings.
Mike Penning said:
“I met with the new CEO Samantha Jones and she has shown her willingness to listen to my views and the views of other interested groups. I am pleased the Trust has put forward a ‘common sense’ solution given all the financial and other constraints.
“In the long-term, however, we need to fight for a state-of-the-art acute hospital on a new central site with easy transport links for residents of Hemel, Watford and St Albans and with plenty of space for expansion and free parking.”
