Dacorum Community Trust
This charity collects funds and then makes grants to worthy causes.
Annual Report 2004 quotes:
“To seek out and raise funds and to distribute them thoughtfully and fairly”
“Long may the trust remain in a position whereby it can help those who have been dealt a bad hand through illness, disability and sheer bad luck”
In 2003/2004 DCT made many grants which included grants to:
- Grovehill Community Café
- Homefields Allotments
- Africans Together
- Chinese Community Association
- Hemel Library
- Waterside Centre
- Berkhamsted Beavers Swimming Club
- Woodfield after school club
In addition a total of 61 individuals were helped.
Individual Case Study
‘S’ and her 6-year-old daughter were forced to flee the dreadful violence of her partner. They flew in a hurry with nothing except the clothes they stood up in. They had no clothes, bed linen, no pots and pans, no furniture, no winter coats – nothing. After a stay in a refuge for immediate safety they were allocated a Council flat. DCT gave ‘S’ a grant so that she could purchase essential items. ‘S’ now has a part-time job and together with her daughter is rebuilding a life and looking forward to a better future.
