MP Mike Penning joined local U11 football squad Comets Lions and their families to relaunch the highly successful Treats for our Troops Campaign.
Mike said:
“Last year we sent literally hundreds of parcels to Afghanistan and on my visit in January several soldiers I met specifically mentioned having received one. I am immensely proud of the response from the people of Dacorum.
“We are relaunching this campaign now so that we have plenty of time to get the parcels to Afghanistan before Christmas. I know from personal experience what its like to be a young soldier separated from family and loved ones at that special time. I am certain residents will join me in wanting to ensure that our brave servicemen and women know we haven’t forgotten them and that we fully appreciate the job they are doing on our behalf.”
Mike went on to praise the Comets Lions team who have launched the campaign.
“I particularly want to thank Adie Lock the team Manager, his assistants Colin Mansell and Stuart Scott and all the players and their families for giving this campaign such a great launch. All the players and their siblings have made up parcels – what a great start to the campaign!”
“I urge everyone to join the Treats for our Troops campaign and I will personally ensure that every parcel gets through directly to a soldier fighting in Afghanistan.”
