Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning has congratulated the Headmaster of Longdean School, Rhodri Bryant, on achieving Independent Academy status for the school.

Academies are publicly-funded independent local schools. This gives them greater freedom to better serve the local communities and provide a first class education.

Mike said:
“I am delighted that Longdean will become an academy and I congratulate Rhodri Bryant and his team. They have worked hard to achieve this.

“Longdean will now benefit from increased funding and have the freedom to manage its own budget and priorities. This means teachers, not administrators, will be in charge and therefore can provide the very best opportunities to ensure pupils reach high levels of personal and academic achievement.”
