Mike PenningMP visited Adeyfield Community Centre last week to present one of the Volunteer Centre’s first “Gold 40” awards to volunteer Mark Carvell.
Volunteer Centre Dacorum is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and to mark the event they have launched “The Big 40 Challenge”. As part of “The Big 40 Challenge” volunteers who clock up 40 hours of volunteering receive the “Gold 40” award. Certificates are also awarded for 25 hours (Silver) and 10 hours (Bronze).
27-year-old Mark Carvell has been with the Volunteer Centre for six years and volunteers at the “Coffee Mates” seniors coffee morning at Adeyfield Community Centre. He also volunteers at Red Cross Medical Loans in Croxley Green and with Shopmobility in Hemel Hempstead.
Mike said:
“There is a fabulous record of volunteering in Dacorum and this was recognised by the move of the Volunteer Centre to the roundhouse at the very heart of our town some years ago.
“I was delighted to present Mark Carvell with his award. Mark is an exceptional young man whose voluntary work is highly valued by all those who work with him. He is an enthusiastic volunteer and an inspiration to others. I congratulate him on his highly deserved “Gold 40” award.”
