Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning has congratulated Headteacher Gail Porterfield, Chair of Governors John Dean and all the staff at Hammond School in Cambrian Way on achieving Academy status for the school which starts on 1st August.
Schools that achieve academy status are publicly-funded independent local schools with greater control over their finances and delivery of the curriculum. They have greater freedom to better serve the needs of their local communities and provide a first class education.
Mike said:
“I am delighted that Hammond will be part of the first wave of academy schools and that local children will benefit.
“I congratulate the staff at the school for embarking on this process which I believe will be of great benefit to the pupils, staff and everyone in the wider community who uses the school. This is great news!”
