Mike Penning presents veterans badges at care centre

Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning presented veterans badges to residents at Alexandra Care Centre in Alexandra Road last Saturday (24th September).

The recipients were headed by one-hundred year old Beatrice Garrad-Cole, with Ruby Alexandra, Wilfred Burrows, Lillian Lakey, Betty Lawrence, William Ellis and Gordon Dent. Mrs Roberts collected a badge on behalf of her late husband Elwyn Roberts who sadly passed away during the week.

Mike said:
“I am proud and honoured to present these badges to the veterans and am delighted that everyone had an enjoyable afternoon. All our veterans deserve our recognition and thanks and I am very pleased that I am able to play a small part in that.”

The veterans badge scheme was introduced by the Ministry of Defence to recognise veterans for their service to Queen and country and to raise the profile of our armed forces.
