Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning joined landlady Mel Hemmings and 70 guests at Martins Pond Public House in Potten End for a fundraising curry night for Help4Heroes.
The guests were entertained by two of the pub staff, Ben and Bradley, and Magic Circle member Michael Gee who performed stunning magic tricks. After supper there was an auction and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and supporters and singing by Peter Gee.
Landlady Mel Hemmings said:
“It was a great evening and I thank local residents Bethan Sharma and Anna Barnard, who's idea it was to hold such an event, and special thanks go to all the staff at the pub for all their hard work and to my son Daniel for selling the raffle tickets.”
Mike Penning MP said:
“Angie and I had a wonderful night and I congratulate the organisers, staff and locals for raising an incredible £4,160 for Help4Heroes. I particularly commend the staff who worked unpaid for the evening and the fact that the entire ticket price went to the charity.”
