Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning, says “a big thank you” to the people of Dacorum as he packs up the first batch of parcels to send to British troops in Afghanistan.

Mike said:

“As ever the response to the ‘Treats for our Troops’ campaign has been great. I am delighted to be sending over these parcels so that the troops will receive them in time for Christmas.

“I know that our donations are really appreciated and I have received many messages saying thank you and many donors have received personal messages as well. Our dedicated servicemen and women are in Afghanistan to help restore peace and establish democracy. I know that it will be of great comfort to them to know that the people back home are thinking of them and supporting them in this very worthwhile cause.”

He added:

”I particularly want to thank the Hemel Lions for their help in packing parcels where people have donated individual items and labeling all the parcels to ensure they reach their intended destination. They’ve done a great job!”

The ‘Treats for our Troops’ campaign continues so if you would like to send a parcel, please put together a shoe box and drop it in to Mike’s office in Hamilton House, Marlowes or at one of the other collection points – details available here [1].
