Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning, has sponsored an exhibition by the Quilts4London project in the Upper Waiting Hall of the House of Commons.
The Quilts4London project plans to give each Olympic and Paralympic athlete a hand-made pennant to take home with them. They have now received over 10,000 pennants and are well on the way to meeting 14,700 needed.
The project was founded by local resident Irene Heathcote and is led jointly by Irene and Catherine Hill.
Mike Penning said:
“This mammoth project continues to be an inspiration and I am absolutely delighted that they were able to hold an exhibition at the Houses of Parliament.
“There is still time to take part and I would encourage any Dacorum resident who is interested to have a go. Quilts4London is a local initiative and deserved of local support. It would be great if they could meet the target of 14,700.”
The exhibition attracted interest from MPs and received a visit from Culture Minister Ed Vaizey MP.
Quilts4London will happily give support and advice. For more information visit www.quilts4london.org.uk [1] or email admin@quilts4london.org.uk [2] or telephone 01442 404234.
