Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning has helped a war veteran get replacements for medals that he has lost in the intervening years.
Alan Pike OBE, who served in Ceylon, Calcutta and Singapore during the World War II, had been awarded medals including the Burma Star. However, having moved house several times in the intervening years he had mislaid them. He contacted Mike Penning about obtaining replacements.
Mr Pike said:
“I was sorry to have lost them and wanted to be able to pass them on to my elder son. I am delighted that Mike was able to help me to get replacements.”
Mike Penning will also be hosting another veterans evening at the end of the month. If you served in the armed forces – in wartime or in peacetime – you are eligible for a Veterans Badge.
Mike said:
“I urge every veteran of the armed forces to apply for a badge and to wear it with pride. Wearing it not only shows support for our veterans but also for the men and women currently serving in the front line in Afghanistan.”
An application form can be downloaded from Mike’s website www.penning4hemel.com [1] or can be posted to you, just call his office on 01442 450444.
