Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, has congratulated local runner Alex Bayliss on completing the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 15th April and has so far raised over £400 for Scope – a charity for disabled children. Alex is a member of the Gade Valley Harriers.
Mike met Alex, who works in the bakery at Asda, when he held a drop-in surgery there on Friday (20th April).
Mike said:
“I am delighted to meet with Alex and congratulate her on her achievement. Scope is a very worthwhile charity. Asda are rightly proud of her achievement!”
Alex, who was supported in Brighton by her husband and four daughters, said:
“I really enjoyed the day and have had lots of support from my running club and my Asda colleagues and managers.”
Alex completed the marathon in 4 hours 30 minutes.
