Hemel Hempstead MP, Mike Penning, has presented a specially monogrammed chef’s jacket to the chef at Saffron Indian Cuisine [1] in the Old Town to commemorate the restaurant’s ‘Highly Commended’ rating in the national round of the prestigious Tiffin Cup 2012.

The Tiffin Cup is awarded by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament called the Tiffin Club.

Each MP can nominate the best South Asian restaurant in their constituency. The best of these go forward to a national final which takes place at the House of Commons.

Mike Penning said:
"I am delighted to present this special chef’s jacket to Saffron. Ali and his team have built up a well-deserved reputation and I am delighted they were ‘Highly Commended’ by the Tiffin Cup judges.”

Owner, Tahir Ullan – known as Ali - said:
“We are delighted to receive this commendation and to have been selected at the Best South Asian Restaurant 2012 in Hemel Hempstead and we have made improvements and alterations to the menu to celebrate. Saffron now matches its appearance with its fantastic food!”
