Mike Penning welcomed the relocation of Hemel market as a long-overdue step to revive the town centre.
Mike Penning welcomed today’s move of the market to the centre of the pedestrian area as a step towards reviving the town centre.
Mike, who first called for the market to be moved to this location in a letter to the Gazette in July 2004, said:
”This is excellent news as it makes the market much more accessible to users of the Marlowes and Riverside shopping centres. The focal point of the shopping centre has moved towards the newer shopping centres and it is only right that the market should be relocated to reflect that.
“I am sure the long-suffering market traders will reap the benefits of being back in the centre of town – the market has been sidelined for far too long.”
