Mike Penning has condemned the closure of Post Offices in Highfield, the Old Town and Potten End.
Hemel MP, Mike Penning, has condemned the closure of post office branches at The Heights in Highfield, Queensway in the Old Town and at Potten End as very disappointing.
Mike said:
“It will cause real hardship for some people, particularly the elderly and those most in need. The post office provides access to a wide range of vital services.”
He added:
“I am particularly angry at the so-called ‘consultation’. It was a complete sham as the decision would appear to have already been made.
“The people of Hemel Hempstead are sick to death of sham public consultations. Consultations, it seems, are held so that organisations can boast that the public were consulted - rather than to actually listen to the views of the people.”
Last week Mike Penning joined Potten End Post Office campaigners in presenting a petition to No. 10 Downing Street and in March he backed a House of Commons attempt to suspend all post office closures.
