Mike Penning has welcomed news that criminal prosecutions will be brought against five companies involved in the operation of the Buncefield oil depot.
The Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency have announced that five companies involved in the operation of the Buncefield oil depot will be prosecuted under both health and safety legislation and environmental legislation.
Commenting Mike said:
“This is great news. I am delighted that nearly exactly three years after the explosion we have the first sign of real natural justice. I am especially pleased that the companies will be prosecuted under both health and safety and environmental legislation.
“Many local people had their lives turned upside down by this event and the explosion and after-effects caused severe damage to both buildings and the natural environment. It is absolutely right that those responsible be held to account.”
