Mike Penning visited the Hospice of St Francis to present a cheque.
On his election as Member of Parliament in 2005, Mike Penning announced he would support and raise money for a different local charity each year.
During his first year as local MP, Mike selected the Hospice of St Francis. Over the year Mike organised several events to raise funds for the Hospice and presenting this cheque has marked the final contribution as a result of his “MP’s Charity of the Year”.
Although located in Berkhamsted, the Hospice of St Francis provides palliative care to people with life limiting illnesses from a wide local area including people from Mike’s constituency.
Mike presented the cheque to Community Appeals Manager, Roger Sharp. On presenting the cheque, Mike said:
“I am very pleased to have been able to support the Hospice of St Francis in this way. They provide an incredible service to their patients and their work is highly regarded by both patients and their loved ones.”
Mike, together with Berkhamsted MP David Gauke, is promoting the “Save the Hospital Charity Bed Push” where campaigners will push a hospital bed from Marlowes to Watford Hospital. The event will be sponsored in aid of the Hospice of St Francis. Sponsor forms can be downloaded from Mike’s website www.mikepenning.com [1].
