Mike Penning presents certificate to winner of Hemel nomination for “The Tiffin Cup”.

Mike Penning presented a certificate to Mr Tanvir Ullah, Manager of Bengal Spice Restaurant in Waterhouse Street on Friday, 25th November. Bengal Spice has been voted best South Asian restaurant in Hemel Hempstead constituency and now goes through to the national round of the Tiffin Cup.

“The Tiffin Cup” is an annual event sponsored by Cobra Beer and organised by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament. Each MP can select one South Asian restaurant from their constituency to go through to a final round. The winning restaurant will win a year’s supply of Cobra Beer.

Mike Penning MP launched a competition to find the best South Asian restaurant in Hemel Hempstead through the local press and through his website. Runners up were Blu, Cochin and Dhaka.

On presenting the award, Mike Penning said: “The response received was excellent and the result was a close run thing. I wish Bengal Spice the best of luck in the national stage of the competition.”
