Mike Penning delighted as first 200 ‘Treats for our Troops’ parcels leave for Afghanistan.
The first 200 ‘Treats for our Troops’ shoebox parcels have left for Afghanistan today.
Mike Penning said:
“This is fabulous news. These first 200 parcels will arrive in plenty of time for Christmas and I congratulate the people of Dacorum on their efforts to make this campaign such a success.
“As a former soldier, I know from personal experience how parcels from home play such an important role in boosting morale. Our servicemen and women are risking their lives on our behalf and to receive a personal gift from someone they’ve never met sends a strong message that the people back home are thinking of them and appreciative of the work they do.
“Keep the parcels coming – we’re not stopping this at Christmas. Our parcels will help as our troops face the harsh Afghan winter.”
Mike is scheduled to visit Afghanistan in January so if anyone has any loved one or friend serving in the country please let him know so – if operationally practicable – he can take the opportunity to meet with them.
