Mike Penning has sent his thanks to GreenAider volunteers who cleared the garden of an elderly resident with a broken back.
Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning was contacted by an elderly resident who had broken her back. Before her accident she was able to clear her garden herself but now can hardly walk.
Mike contacted the GreenAider Project through Groundwork Hertfordshire and they arranged for volunteers to clear the garden.
Mike said:
“I am delighted that the garden has been cleared. It is this sort of community project that really makes a difference to peoples’ lives. This particular resident had been really worried about how her garden was going to be brought under control and I am delighted that she can now set her mind at rest and focus on recovering from her broken back.”
The GreenAider project aims to help people who are otherwise unable, to get their garden under control by working with local volunteers. They are aiming to help 60 residents living in Watford or Dacorum over the next few months so need to hear from more willing GreenAiders who are vital to the success of the project!
If anyone is interested in becoming a GreenAider or know a person in need who would benefit from a visit by a GreenAider team they should contact Ellie at Groundwork Hertfordshire on 01707 255182 or Eleanor.turner@groundwork.org.uk [1].
The GreenAiders project is funded by the West, North and East Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust, Watford Police and the Cooperative Community Fund.
