Mike Penning joined a sponsored walk to raise money for cystic fibrosis sufferer Chloe Bennett.
On the first weekend after the general election local MP, Mike Penning, was pounding the streets again – but this time he and his wife, Angie, had joined local fundraisers on a sponsored walk for 7-year-old Chloe Bennett.
When she was 8 months old, Chloe was diagnosed as suffering from cystic fibrosis. She has to have daily physiotherapy and is hospitalised at Great Ormond Street Hospital for 3 weeks every 3 months.
Chloe – who also took part – joined the walkers for a two hour walk in Gadebridge Park on Sunday morning.
Local organiser, Mrs Diane Dorer said:
“We are trying to raise the £6,000 needed to buy a chest wall oscillation vest for Chloe. The vest works by vibrating and shaking the mucus and would save Chloe having to endure hours of daily chest physiotherapy.
“I am absolutely delighted that we raised over £2,000 for Chloe.”
Mike Penning added:
“I am very pleased the walk was such a success and congratulate Diane Dorer and all the walkers for raising such a large sum of money. Chloe is a delightful young girl and I was more than happy to lend my support. I wish her and the fundraisers all the best.”
A charity night in aid of Chloe will be held on 4th June at Hemel Football Club.
