Mike Penning opened a new baseball diamond at Grovehill Ballpark on Saturday (5th June).

Mike officially opened the second diamond at the Ballpark before the match between Herts Falcons and Essex Arrows. The match ended Herts Falcons 12, Essex Arrows 11.

The second diamond has recently been built with support from Dacorum Borough Council, Awards for All, BSUK, Sport England, PropertyLandeArchitecture, Royal Bank of Scotland and many others

The ceremonial first pitch was thrown simultaneously by 40 Herts Little League players.

Speaking afterwards, Mike said:
"I was delighted to open the second diamond and am fully supportive of the Grovehill Ballpark Project. I was very impressed by the enthusiasm of all involved and it was a really great day out for everyone.

"We are very lucky to have what must be one of the best baseballs fields in the country here in Hemel Hempstead. What a great asset for the town."
