Hemel MP, Mike Penning has launched the local round of the 2008 Tiffin Cup competition to find the best South Asian Restaurant.
The Tiffin Cup is an annual event sponsored by Cobra Beer and organised by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament known as the Tiffin Club. Each MP can nominate one South Asian restaurant from their constituency. From these, ten will be short-listed and invited to a special cook-in at Bellamy's Restaurant where the overall winner will be chosen.
The winning restaurant will receive a year's supply of Cobra beer and the 2008 Tiffin Cup.
At the same time money is being raised to support an orphanage in India.
Mike Penning said:
“This is a great way of promoting South Asian food in Hemel. We've had a great response in previous years and I am looking forward to seeing which restaurant received the most nominations.”
