Local MP Mike Penning, who served in British Army in Northern Ireland, has called on all veterans in Dacorum to come forward to receive the Ministry of Defence’s official badge in recognition of their military service.
Mike said:
”You don’t need to have served in wartime, this badge is about paying respect to those who served.
“I think our country’s ex-servicemen and women ought to be recognised for services to their country and hope they will come forward to claim this badge and wear it on a day-to-day basis.”
The Ministry of Defence has produced the official lapel badge and there is also a separate badge for people who served in the Merchant Navy during wartime operations. You can download an application form here.
