Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, says he is “deeply disappointed” that the NHS Trust has broken its promise that no services would be lost before March 2009.
Mike was commenting in response to today’s announcement by West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust that as of 3rd November all blue-light emergencies between the hours of 10pm and 8am will be taken straight to Watford.
He said:
“I am deeply disappointed by this. We were promised categorically that no services would be lost at Hemel A&E; before the relocation to Watford in March 2009 and now, within a matter of months, the A&E; service at Hemel is being run-down. Yet, more broken promises for the people of Hemel.
“I still maintain it is common sense that a town the size of Hemel – and with considerable growth planned – needs to have a fully functioning General Hospital with A&E.;”
Mike Penning MP will be chairing a public meeting on the future of healthcare services in Dacorum on Friday 17th October at the Dacorum Borough Council Chamber in the Civic Centre, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead (7.30pm).
